Chris Williams - Life as a Pro Cyclist with Diabetes
I had the pleasure to talk to Chris Williams who is an ex-pro cyclist formally with the Novo Nordisk UCI Pro-continental racing team. The Novo Nordisk team were the first to make a team that consisted of athletes with diabetes. See his intro here
Chris gave us some insights into the challenge that made him become a cyclist and then a pro-rider, his training schedule and an insight into his fitness and weight management. Chris talks about the team and how you are recruited and life on the road during the racing season. He gives special insight into what it takes to be on a pro team.
Finally, we talk about life after the competition and how he knew it was time to come home and follow paths as an educator and further studies so he can spread the message of diabetes and how to live and manage your life with this condition.
