The food we eat shapes you and in this discussion with Megan Taylor we discuss the healthy alternative of vegan foods and how they developed over the last few years from a food style and lifestyle into mainstream healthy balance for healthy living. I will disclose here that I am not a vegan or a vegetarian but in talking with Megan you cannot deny the benefits of this diet and having being exposed to the variety of tasty dishes that you can easily prepare at home, you cannot deny that the dishes that she creates are power punching foods.

Megan is not an activist, although, being a professional chef, she has taken a look at the current agriculture and meat farming techniques and she genuinely believes that the process of mass food production has its drawbacks and it is seriously affecting our wellbeing. Have a look at this PODCAST which discusses the implications of antibiotic use in our farmed foods.
It is in our (Western) culture that up to our last generation knows little else than the courses of meat and vegetables as a staple diet with a dabbling of something exotic only on special occasions. However, in the 21st century, the world has changed, and our cultures are intermingled, our supermarkets are a testament that we are exposed to a much wider range of foods that we consume daily. We are now exposed to foods from cultures being Middle Eastern, Indian, Asian, that are more plant-based rather than meat and dairy-based. So, you could say we have already made an adjustment in our diet compared to what our parents ate.
How do you feel after a binge on fast food? Even if you consider you are reasonably healthy but are eating highly processed foods, how does your body talk to you? Do you feel alive or do you feel lacklustre? Do you know any better? The motivation to look at different diets must start from within you and we need to look at the addiction we have to the types of food we eat. Of course, if you suddenly change a diet your body needs to adjust, and you may experience some side effects, but will notice that your tastes will change and these effects will disappear as a relatively swift process as your stomach and body adjusts to the different foods and how it processes those foods.
The secret to our continuing health and of passing on of the good parts of us to our next generation is a simple choice in gathering whole foods and enjoying the delights of what nature has to offer us. Megan’s message and mission statement, her personal message, is simple –
“To Bring whole foods into your life to inspire you to cook at home”
In this video we talk nutrition, getting the best out of the foods we buy for ourselves and we make an easy dish that is satisfying and tasty.
